DIY: Geeky Headbands
Ever since seeing these comic book exclamation headbands on etsy (here and here), I’ve been wanting to make some sort of geeky headbands that would be subtle enough to even wear to work. I thought about using a micro machine as an accessory like Jennifer Landa did with her Millennium Falcon ring, but decided against it since I wanted something more subtle. Upon looking around to see what kind of miniature toys I had lying around, I realized that my lego mini-figs…

Going Native
I’ve personally never really been a fan of tribal prints. I think they remind me of MC Hammer pants from the ’90s. But lately, I’ve been really drawn to aztec prints that have simple colors and simple shapes. Maybe it’s my logical left brain that likes the geometric shapes mixed with my creative right brain that likes the mix of colors. It’s hard to pinpoint, but I will know it when I see it. Without going too crazy on the…

Minty Fresh
I’ve been seeing mint green all over the place – jeans, tops, and even toys. I picked up this Treeson toy at SDCC this year and it just happened to perfectly match this ’60s-ish blouse from H&M, especially since they’re both a little weird. I love the unexpected shape of this top – the wide arm openings, the offset lines on the front, and the open slit in the back. It’s definitely a little on the cropped side, but would…

DIY How to cut a T-shirt – Olympics Edition
For you girls who have ever picked up any swag T-shirts over the years, you know that it’s pretty rare that the shirt actually fits. Size small? Yeah, right. More like Large and XL! Along the same lines, how many times have you seen a shirt in the store and wish there was a girl version of it? Well, that’s how I felt about this throwback Olympics tee. And instead of wearing it as-is, I decided to girlify it. If you…

Vacationing on Tattooine
RVCA is one of my go-to summer brands for great casual dresses that are a little out of the ordinary. This striped one is actually two pieces – a tank top dress with a separate cropped shirt. You can always count on RVCA to add something interesting to a piece of clothing – for example, the decorative tie in the back of this dress. And there’s nothing like a heat wave, sand, and beach wear to remind you of Tattooine…

Becoming a Brony
If there’s one meaningful thing I took away from Comic-Con this year, it might be the answer to the eternal question, “What is a BRONY?”. I first learned about Bronies while on the Adventure Time Comic-Con Quest where I was trying to get my own geeky medal. I was waiting in this ridiculous line with other fellow “questers” to get a stamp on my Adventure Time Map when I suddenly heard someone say, “Dude, are you a BRONY?!”. When I turned…
