The Ugly Sweater Dilemma
For the past few years now, it seems like the big thing to do during the holidays is have an “ugly sweater party”. It’s even a bit ironic that the ugly sweater is no longer the horrible gaudy sweater that your grandma gave you, but one that you purchased from a store (Urban Outfitters anyone??). Anyhow, I have nothing against this trend, but as I was thinking about the fact that I don’t actually own any old ugly sweaters, I had a thought. Maybe I could make one! But what would be on it? Did I really want a sweater with a huge tree or a reindeer face with blinking lights? Not really. What else was “ugly” that I could put on a sweater? Then I had an idea.
When I was thinking about ugly things and ugly faces, this is what came to mind – Finn’s rage face from an older episode where he gets freaked out by the ocean. So I figured, why not put it on a sweater? I was super excited to start work on this.
What you will need:
- An old sweater
- Felt pieces (blue, white, pink, black, two shades of green, a tan/skin tone)
- Fabric glue – I used the one by Aleene’s
- Blow dryer
- Heavy books
- Big red Christmas bow
Here’s a video tutorial on how I made everything.
And the final results!

My god, this is wonderful. I love Adventure Time and your depiction of him is perfect!! I’ve got some plain old sweatshirts I’ve been thinking of updating and this is great inspiration :)
