Welcome to October
It’s officially October, which for me means some crazy pumpkin project, lots of candy, and of course costumes. Sadly, I won’t actually be at home this year for Halloween since I will be spending the weekend at COMIKAZE!! More on that later, but in the spirit of October and making homemade costumes, here are some of my many tutorials that I’ve written up over the past 7 years or so that will hopefully inspire some easy Halloween costume ideas. So if you’re looking for ideas or not sure how to get started on a costume, definitely check these out!
1. Han Solo
This was one of my first “bigger” costumes and I’ve since redone many of the parts. The hardest part of this costume is definitely the holster, but this can easily be simplified.
- Pants and Shirt
- Vest
- *NEW* Updated Leather Holster
- *OLDER* Holster and Belt
- Belt Buckles, Accessories and Gun
2. Adventure Time Finn hat + backpack
The hat only took about 1 hour to make and is super simple! You can even modify it for Fiona by making the ears longer. The backpack was a little more work (maybe around 4 hours), but once you finish, you won’t be able to stop hugging it. And if you have a friend who wants to be Princess Bubblegum, I even have a tutorial for her crown below.
3. Zombie Face
Not really a costume, but who doesn’t want to look like a zombie on Halloween? Applying the makeup took about 20 minutes and was incredibly easy, especially for my first time using scar putty. Plus, there’s no need to super accurate or “neat” since HELLO? You’re a zombie!!
4. Pikachu (or any sort of cute animal hoodie)
Pikachu can be done in so many ways, but I took inspiration from some fan art and a Kigurumi to make this loose fitting hoodie. You can also take this and modify it to animal of your choice!
Hopefully you can find some inspiration in one of the above tutorials and whether you put in 2 hours or 20 hours for your Halloween costume is really up to you. Just remember to have fun and be creative!
