Following the Rules

I typically never make New Year’s Resolutions. It’s not that I don’t believe in them, but I definitely don’t want to make a resolution just for the sake of making one. That doesn’t mean that I don’t believe in setting goals and following through though, especially when it comes to art projects or cosplay, which on a side note may have something to do with why I am also a Project Manager in “real life”. So going back to goals, this year I actually did get to thinking about some goals – at least for this blog.

First of all, please don’t be too harsh with me on these goals, since I realize some of these seem incredibly superficial and have no sense of self-growth. But goals are goals and hopefully I’ll keep these in mind this year!

1. Shop less and re-use more! I have way too many clothes and really need to be better about recycling my clothing more. My friend recently did a “shopstinance” project where she didn’t shop for 40 days. That may be something I should consider…

2. Wear more heels in real life. Ok, this is probably the most superficial goal ever, but I love the look of heels with an outfit (as seen in many of my photos), but when it comes down to wearing heels in real life, I often switch to flats as my preferred shoe due to laziness.

3. Experiment more! I definitely buy a lot of the same things – black pants in every style possible, black dresses that all look the same, shirts in the same patterns, etc. I’d love to vary my wardrobe more, but then I think about my first goal…

4. Be creative – I guess this is an extension on goal #3, but sometimes I definitely see myself falling into trends and I don’t necessarily think that’s always a good thing.

So today’s outfit at least fulfills goal #1 in the fact that I am not wearing anything new and everything I am wearing is at least 9 months old. At least that’s one step in the right direction!
