Weekend Getaway
Every year I get asked what I want to do for my birthday and every year, I completely dread that day. I hate the attention, the pressure of having a “great day” and I have never enjoyed being sung to. Usually I go into hiding around this time and thank goodness for Memorial Day because my birthday usually falls over that 3 day period, but this year I decided to really get away from things by spending my bday at Disneyland! With all I have to celebrate, I was feeling incredible grateful to be present, healthy, and I couldn’t wait to just go there and do whatever, eat whatever, and have a good time.
People often ask me why I go there so much especially because I live in the Bay Area and I guess the best way to explain it is because it’s my happy place. I was obsessed with Mickey Mouse as a kid, moved on to a Roger Rabbit obsession, and grew up with every Disney animated song ingrained in head. Disney has just always been a huge part of my life and even though I only visited Disneyland maybe 5 times at most in my youth, it would make sense why I would feel at home there.
As for the events of my birthday, I really couldn’t have had a better celebration. I met Chip and Dale, got a huge hug from Chewy, had many awesome eats, and ate not one, but three desserts. The best part was spending the whole day with my husband and we ended the day with a delicious meal at Carthay Circle. Oh and on top of that, the Warriors had a huge game 6 comeback, which made for some “interesting” reactions while my husband and I cheered in the corner of the restaurant! All in all, an awesome day and completely worth getting one year older.
